First Love

First Love

As I walk down the street

I hear the Spirit speak

“Look at all the hungry faces

With hearts full of empty spaces

If only they knew

The Gospel Truth.”

The Spirit spoke again in church

“Go ahead and search.

Do you see the empty glances

As the Pastor speaks of second chances?

If only they could remember

A time when their hearts were tender.”

“Remember the hunger in your soul

When My grace, you first came to know?

Remember the time you spent with Me

When I first set you free?

How you fasted, prayed,

And in My presence stayed?”

“Every time My presence was outpoured

You thirsted for more and more.

You remained on bended knee

Never satisfied with part of Me.

You cried out day and night

Until you saw My glory Light.”

“I often lament and wonder

Where went My people’s hunger?

Where went the thirst in their souls

To seek My face, and be made whole?

Oh, that their eyes would be opened

To the fellowship that has been broken.”

“Return to Me,

Is My desperate plea.

Set your hearts above,

Come back to Your first Love

Cast all doubt asunder,

And let Me fill Your thirst and hunger.”
